Lead with Compassion

Our mission is to consult companies on inclusion. This means working with leaders and workers alike to define roadblocks and strategize ways to positive change. Let’s face it, it starts at the top.

Let me backup. Yes, we are adults with freewill. We all have our moral compass and values that we bring to work. However, leaders of course, set the vibe in many ways. But this blog post isn’t about that. This post is what happens pre-employee, pre-adult. It’s about the example we are setting for the younger generation.

The youth is watching and listening. Regardless if you’re have children or not, the next generation is watching how we handle topics. I have to say, overall we have become more open-minded. However, mental health and neurodiversity are still topics we are falling short with.

When you talk about the “weird neighbor”, a child heard that and it validated their thoughts. Now they feel it’s ok to make fun of their “weird classmate.” When people make fun of mental illness on social media, kids and teens are seeing that and they now think those behaviors are ok. Stimga grows online and at school. It might hit the wrong person who struggles without anyone realizing it, making their pain so much worse.

Like executives, we are leading in society. Be mindful, act like a grown up and teach acceptance. All change starts at home and in our community. Previous generations didn’t have the understanding of mental health and neurodiversity like we do now. We are living in the age of self-driving cars and robots, let’s also have a kinder future. Let’s strive to make positive change together!
